Ayana Brooks
Dr. Ayana Renée Brooks was a Black American and Afro-Dominican OB/GYN born in Newark, New Jersey. She was married to Elliot Landry and was the mother of twins Ariana Landry and Adrian Landry. Ayana, Elliot, Jacob Keller, and Ava Keller formed a four-adult family that shared caregiving responsibilities.
Early Life and Education
Ayana was the oldest of five children born to Andre Brooks and Rosa Santos Brooks. Her younger siblings were Naomi, Destiny, and twins Mateo and Miguel. She completed her pre-medical undergraduate education at Rutgers University–Newark, attended NYU Grossman School of Medicine, and completed an OB/GYN residency through Columbia and Weill Cornell.

Ayana was Black American and Afro-Dominican. She spoke English and Spanish.
Career
Ayana worked as an OB/GYN at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She later served as Elliot’s primary caregiver during his treatment for a low-grade glioma.

Health and Disabilities
Ayana had polycystic ovary syndrome. She became pregnant with Ariana and Adrian shortly after Elliot completed cancer treatment, when she was approximately forty-one or forty-two. The pregnancy was complicated by hyperemesis gravidarum, dehydration, pre-eclampsia warning signs, bedrest, and mobility limitations. The twins were born prematurely around 2051 and required neonatal intensive care.

Elliot Landry

Ayana met Elliot through Logan Weston at a Baltimore medical gala. They married around 2043 or 2044. Ayana supported Elliot through his glioma surgery and chemotherapy in 2049–2050. Shortly after treatment ended, she became pregnant with Ariana and Adrian while Elliot was still recovering, and they raised the twins in Baltimore.
Ariana Landry and Adrian Landry
Ariana and Adrian were Ayana and Elliot’s twins. They were born around 2051 after Ayana’s high-risk pregnancy, and both required NICU care.
Ava Keller

Ava provided extensive practical and medical support during Ayana’s pregnancy and was present for the twins’ delivery. Their close bond became part of the four-adult family surrounding both households.
Jacob Keller
Jacob was Elliot’s long-term partner and a member of the four-adult family. Ayana treated his bond with Elliot as part of their shared family structure, and Jacob participated in the twins’ care.
